ASIA-PACIFIC UNIVERSITIES’ COOPERATION WITHIN THE CAPEU BOARD OF DIRECTORS’ 2ND MEETING

Another UPI’s cooperation between countries in cooperation in the field of education was manifested in the CAPEU Board of Directors’ 2nd Meeting held on October 21, 2019, in the Partere Isola building.

This meeting was a series of routine events held by the Consortium of Asia Pacific Education Universities (CAPEU), a non-profit organization committed in making constructive changes in teacher training and education, research and community development, especially in higher education institutions in Asia-Pacific countries.

The guests came from various universities including Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris Malaysia, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Internasional Islamic University Malaysia, Semarang State University Indonesia, Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha Indonesia, and Philippines Normal University, Philippines. Unfortunately, there were some guests who were not present, namely representatives from Fatoni University Thailand and Surabaya State University Indonesia.

The president of CAPEU, Professor Dato’ Dr. Mohammad Shatar Bin Sabran, gave his opening and welcoming remarks for all the members who were present at the meeting. In his remarks, he delivered that exposure is one of the vital parts to broadcast CAPEU more to attract a larger audience by showing them CAPEU’s activities, products, and provided them with  real benefits if they decide to join the consortium

A series of the meeting’s agenda consisted of an update and a report on finance, the status of active/inactive member, CAPEU Book f Reference: Current Issues and Prospect in Higher Education, discussing CAPEU website presentation, and update on CAPEU Journal.

Some of the results of the meeting were an approval of the proposal for organizing the 5th Consortium of Asia Pacific Education Universities (CAPEU) 2020 in Malaysia, an approval to rebrand the CAPEU logo, and a proposal for Post Graduate Student Attachment Programme between UPSI (Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris Malaysia) and CAPEU member institution.

This year’s CAPEU meeting also discussed the topic of Best Practice in Teaching and Learning delivered by Prof. Dr. H. Didi Suryadi, M.Ed. from Math Education study program UPI and a proposal to hold the next CAPEU meeting which would be held in Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha Bali, Indonesia.
