Bandung, UPI
The Industrial Automation and Robotics Engineering Education Study Program, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia utilized innovative MediCase Technology to raise awareness about Multi-Drug Resistance (MDR) at the Cipaku Health Centre (Puskesmas Cipaku) in Bandung. The event aimed to educate participants on the dangers of MDR and promote medication adherence supported by technological solutions.
Mrs. Verasari Febrianty, the head of the Cipaku Health Center, and Mr. Nurul Fahmi Arief, the project leader, officially started the event. Both emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to enhance health literacy and tackle drug resistance, a pressing public health concern. Following the opening remarks, Mrs. Anggie Karina Fitria delivered an insightful presentation on MDR. She outlined its causes, consequences, and the critical role of adhering to prescribed treatment plans to prevent the spread of drug resistance. Using clear explanations and relatable examples, Mrs. Anggie illustrated how untreated or improperly managed infections could lead to MDR, complicating treatment and significantly increasing healthcare costs.
The session included a practical demonstration of the Smart Medicine Box, an innovative tool developed by the MediCase Team to support medication adherence. This device provides regular reminders, tracks medication usage, and records user data to improve health management. Attendees were encouraged to reflect on how this technology could enhance their health and families by minimizing risks associated with improper medication practices. The MediCase Team conducted an interactive showcase of the Smart Medicine Box, highlighting its user-friendly design and versatility for people of all ages. Participants practiced setting reminders and reviewing data, gaining hands-on experience with the device.
The program concluded on a hopeful note, leaving participants feeling empowered to manage their medications effectively and better understand the risks of MDR. This initiative demonstrated how integrating medical knowledge with advanced technology can deliver significant health benefits, fostering community well-being and sustainable healthcare practices.
This training event underscored the Cipaku Health Centre’s commitment to combating MDR and improving public health through community-based programs and innovative technologies. The organizers also expressed gratitude to IEEE MTTS SIGHT for their support in making this impactful community program possible.
