|“Global Innovation in Material Science: Bridging Research Through LUPIC Collaboration”

On June 18, 2025, Fabrication Laboratory, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) in Bandung, will host a distinguished guest lecture titled “Global Innovation in Material Science: Bridging Research Through LUPIC Collaboration.” This event is organized through the collaboration between the fabrication Laboratory, Chemistry, and Chemistry Education Study Programs at UPI and Sogang University, South Korea, under the Leading University Project for International Cooperation (LUPIC), with full support from LUPIC. The lecture aims to explore the transformative potential of the LUPIC program in advancing materials science research, and participants who have registered include students, lecturers, teachers, and others. This program is conducted in a hybrid format, that is, onsite in Auditorium FPMIPA UPI, and online through Zoom meeting.
Professor Won Koo Lee will commence the session by detailing the LUPIC program’s strategic framework, emphasizing its role in facilitating collaborative research initiatives among leading Universities in Indonesia. The discussion will underscore the importance of such collaborations in accelerating innovation and knowledge exchange across borders.
Following Professor Lee, Professor Jin Seok Lee will present insights into the current trends in biomaterial research, focusing on the integration of advanced materials in medical applications. He will discuss the evolution of biomaterials, from traditional polymers to smart materials that can respond to environmental stimuli. His presentation will cover various aspects, including the development of biodegradable materials, the use of nanocomposite hydrogels, and the application of plasma-treated polymeric surfaces to enhance cell adhesion.
This guest lecture will not only provide valuable insights into the LUPIC program and biomaterial research trends but also serve as a platform for networking and exchanging ideas among researchers and students in the field. The event underscores the significance of international collaborations in advancing scientific research and education, paving the way for future innovations in material science. The LUPIC itself is the name of a consortium between Sogang University (Korea) with leading University in Indonesia, like Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Universitas Negeri Semarang, and Universitas Negeri Ganesha. For this collaboration, UPI (Chemistry and Chemistry Education) is the host University in Indonesia. Furthermore, this cooperation will run for 6 years, that is 2023-2029. (tr)
