Global Innovation in Material Science: Bridging Research Through LUPIC Collaboration

Bandung, June 18 2025 – Fabrication Laboratory Education (Fablab Edu), the Chemistry and Chemistry Education Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Indonesia, and the Chemistry Department, College of Natural Science, Sogang University, South Korea held a Guest Lecture with the theme “Global Innovation in Material Science: Bridging Research Through LUPIC Collaboration” which is the implementation of the Leading University Project for International Cooperation (LUPIC) grant under the academic consortium of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes), and Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) under the direction of Sogang University.
This activity was attended by up to 100 online participants through the Zoom platform, consisting of students from UPI, Universitas Negeri Semarang, Universitas Negeri Singaperbangsa, teachers, lecturers, and other stakeholders. Meanwhile, around 200 participants took part in the offline activity which took place in the Auditorium of FPMIPA UPI, Bandung, hosted by Mrs. Vidia Afina Nuraini, M.Sc. as the master of ceremonies.

The event was officially opened with remarks from the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FPMIPA UPI, Prof. Al Jupri, S.Pd., M.Sc., Ph.D., who represented the Dean of FPMIPA. Furthermore, the signing of the Implementation Agreement (IA) was carried out as a form of cooperation agreement, involving Prof. Won Koo Lee, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Adi Rahmat, M.Si., Prof. Dr. Asep Kadarohman, M.Si., Prof. Dr. Fitri Khoerunnisa, M.Si., and Prof. Dr. Wiji, M.Si.
Through the LUPIC consortium, the Department of Chemistry Sogang University presented two speakers from South Korea to give a public lecture which presented Prof. Jin Seok Lee from Hanyang University with the topic “Biomaterial Research Trend” and the second session was filled by Prof. Won Koo Lee from Sogang University who explained about the “LUPIC Program and Plan”, moderated by Mrs. Triannisa Rahmawati, S.Pd., M.Si.,

To honor the collaboration and strengthen cultural ties, UPI concluded the event by presenting Indonesian batik as a token of appreciation to the guest speakers from Sogang University. The souvenirs were graciously handed over by Prof. Dr. Asep Kadarohman, M.Si.
This activity is a form of international cooperation in the field of chemistry education and research, as well as strengthening cross-country academic networks in improving the quality of learning and exchange of knowledge. (DSM)
