On Thursday, March 21st, 2024, the Indonesian University of Education received a visit from Sungkyul University, South Korea, at the UPI University Center Building. The visit from Sungkyul University was led by Prof. Kim Sang-Sik (President of the University), Prof. Han Sang-Pil (Professor at Sungkyul University), Lee Chang-Jin (Manager of International Exchange), Cha Yoon-Chung (President Director, Annyeong Edu Indonesia). The group was received by the Rector of UPI, Prof. Dr. H. M. Solehuddin, M. Pd., M. A and Director of International Affairs (DIA) Prof. Ahmad Bukhori Muslim, Ph.D., the Dean, and UPI’s representatives.

This activity was opened by Prof. Dr. H. M Solehuddin’s remarks. Professor highlighted, “With the collaboration between Sungkyul University and UPI, it is hoped that we can develop and learn together in the fields of education and research.” Prof. Kim Sang-Sik, the President of Sungkyul University responded to the speech, “Thank you for the warm welcome from UPI, with the signing of this MoU we want to know what UPI wants for future cooperation. Such as international programs that students can take part in.”

After the speech, the activity continued with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding by the Rector of UPI and the President of Sungkyul University. The agenda was followed by a discussion led by the Director of International Affairs, Prof. Ahmad Bukhori Muslim, Ph.D. on the future collaboration between the two institutions. This visit aims to establish international cooperation between UPI and Sungkyul University. Sungkyul University and UPI will embark on a partnership with promising student exchange and hopefully will be extended to a wider partnership.

“This collaboration will be carried out mainly in the field of student exchange between faculties. This student exchange is carried out for Long term and Short term. Additionally, inviting lecturers between Sungkyul University and UPI to teach online. Also, conducting Joint Research between Sungkyul and UPI,” said Prof. Ahmad Bukhori Muslim, Ph.D. (UPI Director of International Affairs). Other programs offered by UPI are internships as teachers, summer programs implemented by several faculties, joint degree programs, and involving Sungkyul University lecturers as international reviewers for UPI journals.

The offer given by Sungkyul University was conveyed by the Manager of International Exchange Lee Chang-Jin, namely collaboration for student exchanges between faculties, providing online learning, and learning about Korean culture such as Kpop, Kdrama, KContent, Kbeauty, and others.

The signing of the MoU and the partnership discussions mark mutual expectations to develop and learn together in international cooperation in the field of education and other related fields.   (written by Melan, documented by Rayhan)
