UPI Ranked #251 – 300 World Universities in Education

            Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Ranking by Subject has just released the ranking of universities in the world based on the subject. Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) ranks #251-300 in the world and ranks #1 in Indonesia based on the ranking of QS World University Ranking by Subject in Education 2020. Also, UPI becomes the only university in Indonesia that is included in the 300 top universities in the world and the 50-top university in Asia in education. UPI also ranked #501-550 in the QS Asia University Ranking.

            Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) is an official rating agency that used as a reference for world ranking by The Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) in measuring the quality of higher education institutions in Indonesia, particularly in the framework to become a World-Class University (WCU). In the QS World University Ranking by Subject Education, four indicators become the reference for the assessment. The indicators include academic reputation which the weight of 50%, employer reputation which holds the weight of 10%, citations per paper which weight 20% of the assessment, and the H-Index (a measure of productivity and the impact of scientific publication recognized by other researchers) withhold the weight of 20%. 

            Meanwhile, for the QS Asia University Ranking (AUR), 11 indicators serve as the references, including academic and employer reputations, international research network, in/outbound student exchange, paper per faculty ration, the percentage of international student, percentage of foreign lecturers, percentage of lecturer with PhD, citation per faculty.

            Globally, UPI ranked at #251 – 300 in QS World University Ranking by Subject in Education with a total score of 58.2. The highest score of UPI is at the H-Index, scoring 63.3, followed by the indicators of quotations per articles, academic reputation, and employers, amounting to 59.7, 57.3, and 49.5 respectively. In 2020, this is the first time UPI’s name was included in the world ranking in the field of education in the QS version.

            Prof. Dr. Asep Kadarohman, M.Si., as the Rector of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude to all of the lecturers, students, staff, alumni, and other UPI stakeholders who have worked hard and dedicated for UPI’s achievement.
