Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) officially expanded its international network by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bulacan State University (BulSU) in the Philippines on Tuesday, 22 September 2026. The cross-border collaboration lays a strategic foundation for student and lecturer mobility programs, collaborative research, and institutional capacity building.

During the signing ceremony, UPI attended virtually via Zoom, officially represented by the Vice Rector for Research, Community Engagement, and Partnerships, Prof. Dr. Agus Setiabudi, M.Si., and the Head of the International Partnerships Division, Prof. Eri Kurniawan, Ph.D. Meanwhile, Bulacan State University was officially represented by its President, Dr. Jody C. San Andres, who acted as the authorized signatory.

In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Agus Setiabudi, M.Si., emphasized UPI’s full commitment to overseeing the sustainability of this collaboration, ensuring it transforms into concrete programs with direct benefits for the academic community, rather than remaining a formal document.

As an initial step toward implementation, UPI openly invited faculty members and students from the partner university to participate in short-term and long-term academic mobility programs, including offers for the Spring/Fall 2027 terms. Beyond mobility initiatives, UPI also invited its partner to engage in joint research and scientific publications, as well as institutional capacity-building efforts such as joint training, staff development programs, and collaborative community service projects.

The success of this partnership will be measured by the realization of programs that deliver tangible benefits to all parties involved. (Intan Pratidina Dewi)
