Bandung, November 8, 2025 – Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) has taken another strategic step in enhancing its international academic reputation through active participation in the QS Higher Ed Summit: Asia Pacific 2025, held from November 4–6, 2025, at Korea University, Seoul, South Korea. Led by Prof. Dr. Vanessa Gaffar, Vice Rector for Education and Quality Assurance and Head of Delegation, UPI featured an exhibition booth highlighting the university’s institutional achievements and opportunities for global collaboration.

The event, now in its 21st year, is recognized as one of the largest higher education collaboration forums in the Asia-Pacific region, bringing together more than 2,000 participants, including university leaders, industry experts, and government officials. Over 20 leading Indonesian universities were among the attendees. Panel discussions, best practice workshops, and networking sessions provided participants with valuable opportunities to build partnerships and shape the future direction of higher education in the region.

QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) is a globally recognized organization known for its comprehensive evaluation of more than 8,000 higher education institutions worldwide, assessing academic reputation, teaching quality, research impact, and internationalization. The QS World University Rankings have long served as a key benchmark for universities to measure their position and competitiveness regionally and globally.

UPI’s presence at this prestigious international forum underscores its commitment to expanding academic networks and securing cross-border collaborations. The university’s booth stood out by showcasing local cultural values, pedagogical excellence, and a strong commitment to educational quality. The UPI delegation actively engaged with potential partners from various countries, opening pathways for joint research, academic exchange programs, and institutional partnerships.

This participation coincided with the announcement of UPI’s recent ranking improvement — rising to #76 in the QS Asian University Rankings: South-Eastern Asia, a milestone that reaffirms UPI’s consistent progress in academic quality and international competitiveness. The achievement validates UPI’s strategic and sustainable approach to internationalization.

However, as noted by the delegation, the next crucial step is to translate these new global connections into tangible outcomes. Concrete implementation through collaborative programs, faculty and student exchanges, and joint research initiatives will be vital to sustaining momentum and driving UPI’s future advancement in global rankings.

According to Prof. Dr. Vanessa Gaffar, UPI’s participation in the QS Asia Pacific Summit 2025 represents more than symbolic presence—it reflects a real commitment to positioning the university as a regional and global leader in education.

“UPI is ready to continuously learn from leading institutions worldwide and to apply those insights to enhance our educational quality and institutional reputation,” she affirmed.

With a spirit of collaboration, unwavering dedication to quality, and a strong international vision, UPI continues to move forward confidently toward a brighter, more impactful academic reputation—one that remains relevant, globally connected, and future-oriented. (Contributor)
