Strengthening International Collaboration, UPI’s Law Program Explores Strategic Partnership with Ton Duc Thang University, Vietnam

Bandung, August, 8 2025 As part of its efforts to expand its global network and enhance the quality of higher education, the Law Study Program of the Faculty of Social Sciences Education at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) welcomed an honorary visit from representatives of the Faculty of Law, Ton Duc Thang University, Vietnam, on Friday (8/8/2025). This visit marks a strong signal of both institutions’ commitment to forging a strategic partnership in the future.

The delegation from Vietnam was led by Mr. Chau Bao Anh, LLM, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law at Ton Duc Thang University. They were warmly received by the leadership of the UPI Law Study Program, including Mr. Dwi Iman Muthaqin, S.H., M.H., Head of the Law Study Program, Mr. Dadi Mulyadi Nugraha, M.Pd., Student Affairs Coordinator of the Law Study Program, and Agung Setiawan, the President of the Law Students Association. The friendly and productive atmosphere of the meeting laid the foundation for future discussions.

This meeting was not just a courtesy visit but a deep discussion about curriculum harmonization between the two institutions. Harmonizing curricula is a crucial first step in ensuring academic standards’ relevance and comparability, thus facilitating a more effective exchange of knowledge and experience.

Furthermore, both parties seriously discussed various concrete forms of future collaboration. Key points discussed included:

  • Faculty Exchange Program: This program is expected to enrich teaching and research perspectives at both universities, enabling the transfer of innovative knowledge and methodologies.
  • Student Exchange Program: The student exchange initiative will provide opportunities for law students to experience academic and cultural environments in another country, broaden their horizons, and build global networks.
  • Joint Research: Collaborative research will allow both institutions to combine expertise and resources to address contemporary legal issues at both regional and global levels.

Overall, this collaboration aims to strengthen the academic competencies of both institutions and emphasizes the importance of international partnerships in addressing increasingly complex global challenges.

The visit and exploration of collaboration between UPI’s Law Study Program and the Faculty of Law at Ton Duc Thang University is directly aligned with the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Two UPI Students Join Global Teacher Conference and Workshops in Canberra, Australia

Canberra, August 11, 2025 – Lydia Kusdyanti Iasya, an English Education student from the Faculty of Language and Literature Education (FPBS), and Venus Zauhair Amru, a student of the International Program on Science Education (IPSE) from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education (FPMIPA) at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), represented UPI in the 2025 Australia Teacher Assistant Program. They participated in a series of international academic activities in Canberra, Australia, in early August 2025, including school visits, conferences, and workshops focusing on language teaching and strengthening teacher competencies at the global level.

One of the key agendas was a visit to St. Clare of Assisi School, where Lydia and Venus, accompanied by Prof. Yuli Rahmawati, Education and Cultural Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra, were warmly welcomed by Mrs. Margo Smith, an Indonesian language teacher at the school. The meeting served as a platform to exchange insights on Indonesian language teaching in Australian schools and explore opportunities for cross-country educational collaboration.

They also attended a Mini Conference at Burgman Anglican School, organized by the Modern Language Teachers’ Association. The event featured two main sessions: Foundation of Comprehensible Input (CI) Skills with Mei Turnip and AI Tools for Language Teachers with Myriam Davies and Gaelle Pajot.

In addition, Lydia and Venus took part in a workshop entitled Building on Students’ Strengths: How can you build on the linguistic resources of multilingual and multidialectal students in your classroom, facilitated by Dr. Jacqueline D’warte. The workshop was organized by the Association of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (ATESOL) and held at Sacred Heart School, Canberra.

These activities align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 4: Quality Education, which emphasizes enhancing educator skills, ensuring equitable access to education, and strengthening competencies in multilingual and multicultural contexts. Through their participation, Lydia and Venus not only broadened their academic perspectives but also served as education ambassadors for Indonesia, fostering global collaboration in language teaching. Santosa Hospital Kopo’s Collaborative Visit to FPBS UPI: Strengthening Foreign Language Services and Student Internship Opportunities

Bandung, August 11, 2025 – Santosa Hospital Kopo visited the Faculty of Language and Literature Education (FPBS) at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) on Friday (August 8, 2025) to explore collaboration in foreign language translation services—particularly Korean—and the development of student internship programs.

The Santosa Hospital Kopo delegation, consisting of Dewi Arum, S.Tr.Kes. (Head of Hospital Health Promotion Unit), R. Mirza Mubarik Achmad, A.Md. (Marketing and Public Relations Supervisor), and Muhamad Alfiansyah, S.H. (General Manager), was warmly received by FPBS UPI leaders: Prof. Dr. Yulianeta, M.Pd. (Vice Dean I), Wawan Gunawan, M.Ed., Ph.D. (Vice Dean II), and Yanty Wirza, M.Pd., M.A., Ph.D. (Vice Dean III), along with Korean Language Education lecturers Risa Triarisanti, S.Pd., M.Pd. and Azma Azizah, S.S., M.A.

The discussion focused on enhancing Korean translation services to support communication with international patients, particularly those from South Korea. Additionally, internship opportunities for Korean Language Education students were explored to develop practical skills in translation and hospital service settings.

According to Prof. Dr. Yulianeta, M.Pd., the collaboration aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 on Good Health and Well-being and SDG 4 on Quality Education. “Through synergy between education and healthcare institutions, we aim to improve the quality of healthcare services for the community while enriching students’ real-world learning experiences,” she said.

The partnership will be formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), covering student internships and the development of translation services, with the possibility of expanding into other areas in the future.

This visit marks a strategic step in building mutually beneficial partnerships between educational institutions and hospitals, while contributing to SDG achievements through human resource development and improved public services. (contributor)

ICOLLITE 9 Successfully Held: Highlighting Digital Transformation in Language, Literature, Culture, and Education

Bandung, August 10, 2025 – The Faculty of Language and Literature Education (FPBS) at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) successfully hosted The 9th International Conference on Language, Literature, Culture, and Education (ICOLLITE 9) on Wednesday (August 6, 2025). This international academic forum brought together scholars, researchers, lecturers, and education practitioners from various countries to discuss the present and future of language, literature, culture, and education in the context of digital transformation.

Carrying the theme “Digital Transformation in Language, Literature, Culture, and Education”, ICOLLITE 9 encouraged the exchange of ideas, research findings, and innovative strategies to address the challenges of the digital era, both in theoretical and practical dimensions.

As an annual international conference, ICOLLITE 9 featured scientific paper presentations, parallel sessions, keynote speeches, and interdisciplinary panel discussions. Hundreds of participants joined the hybrid event—attending either in person at UPI’s Bandung campus or online from around the world. The keynote speakers were prominent experts from renowned universities and institutions worldwide.

The conference covered a broad range of topics, including:

  1. Language and Literacy Studies – language acquisition, psycholinguistics, preservation of local languages, discourse studies, and more.
  2. Media and Communication Studies – social media, media ideology, digital communication, and multimodality.
  3. Educational Studies – teacher professional development, language curriculum, intercultural education, and learning assessment.
  4. Literature and Cultural Studies – children’s literature, folklore, digital literature, popular culture, and digital humanities.
  5. Innovative Learning and Learner Autonomy – educational technology, Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL), Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL), reflective learning, and self-directed learning.

“ICOLLITE is more than just a scientific forum; it is a shared space for creating tangible solutions to contemporary challenges. We believe that cross-disciplinary and cross-national collaboration is the key to innovation in language, literature, and education,” said Ahmad Fuadin, ICOLLITE 9 Public Relations.

The success of ICOLLITE 9 reinforces UPI’s position as a center for the advancement of knowledge and educational innovation with global competitiveness, while also demonstrating the university’s strong commitment to expanding international academic collaboration in the era of digital transformation. FPEB UPI Successfully Hosts The 10th GCBME 2025: Advancing Global Collaboration for Transformational Leadership and Sustainable Business Innovation

The Faculty of Economics and Business Education (FPEB) at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) successfully organized The 10th Global Conference on Business, Management, and Entrepreneurship (GCBME) 2025. The hybrid-format international conference carried the theme “Transformational Leadership and Innovation for Business Sustainability”, attracting 199 participants from various countries, with 179 selected abstracts presented in parallel sessions.

Conference Chair and Dean of FPEB UPI, Prof. Dr. Ratih Hurriyati, M.P., CSBA, stated that this 10th edition marks a significant milestone in strengthening UPI’s academic culture while reinforcing FPEB’s strategic position as a pioneer of global collaboration in business, management, and entrepreneurship. The event was co-hosted with Universitas Cipasung Tasikmalaya, Institut Pendidikan Indonesia Garut, Universitas Garut, Universitas Logistik dan Bisnis Internasional, Termez University (Uzbekistan), and Ton Duc Thang University (Vietnam).

UPI Vice Rector for Education and Quality Assurance, Prof. Dr. Vanessa Gaffar, SE., Ak., MBA, emphasized that GCBME embodies the university’s commitment to fostering interdisciplinary synergy, expanding global academic networks, and driving innovation in economic and business education.

The conference featured distinguished keynote speakers, including Prof. Brian Yuliarto, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D. (Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia), Prof. Robert De Souza, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Executive Director/CEO of The Logistics Institute – Asia Pacific), Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hoa (Ton Duc Thang University, Vietnam), Dr. Andreawan Honora (UWA Business School, The University of Western Australia), and Dr. Masharyono (FPEB UPI).

Participants came from South Korea, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Ghana, and various regions of Indonesia. Presentations were organized into five parallel tracks: (1) Organizational Behavior, Leadership, and Human Resource Management; (2) Innovation, Information Technology, Operations, and Supply Chain Management; (3) Marketing Management; (4) Financial and Accounting Management; and (5) Strategic Management, Entrepreneurship, and Contemporary Issues.

All submitted papers underwent a rigorous double-blind peer review process and will be published in the Advances in Economics, Business, and Management Research proceedings series (Atlantis Press – Springer Nature), indexed in Web of Science, CNKI, and Google Scholar. Selected high-quality papers will also be considered for publication in reputable Scopus-indexed journals such as Business Strategy and the Environment and Knowledge-Based Systems.

Beyond serving as a platform for scientific presentations, GCBME 2025 fostered international networking, cross-country research collaborations, and critical reflections on global business dynamics. This achievement reaffirms FPEB UPI’s role as a center of excellence in inclusive, globally competitive, and sustainability-oriented business research and education. (contributor)
